Anchovy Fish fry (Nethili Fish Fry ) tastes awesome and spicy and is loved by all fish lovers. Nethili Meen fry remains an outstanding starter and side dish for your main course and also can serve as an evening snack during the rainy/cold season.

  • Serving: 500grams
Ingredients:
  • 500 grams Anchovy Fish
  • Water as required
  • Oil for frying
  • Pepper Powder - ¼ tablespoon
  • Turmeric Powder - ¼ tablespoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Corn flour - 1 tablespoon
  • Rice flour - 3 tablespoon
  • Salt as required
  • Ginger Garlic paste - 2 tablespoon
Preparation of Nethili Meen fry:
  • Rinse the Anchovies well in turmeric water and clean them.
  • In order to marinate the anchovies, add them to a mixing bowl and add the  pepper powder, turmeric powder, cornflour, rice flour, ginger garlic paste and salt.
  • Finely mix the ingredients such that they form a layer over the anchovies and keep them aside for 15 mins.
  • Heat the Kadai with the oil required for frying. Now add the marinated anchovy fish in batches to the oil for frying.
  • In order to get crispy anchovy fries, flip them and fry the same until they change into golden brown colour.
  • Serve the spicy and crispy fries with fried curry leaves, lemon and onion slices.

Ingredients:
  • Pomfret Fish - 1
  • Semolina to coat
  • Salt as required
  • Oil as required
  • Ginger - 2 tablespoon
  • Garlic - 3 cloves
  • Turmeric Powder - ½ tablespoon
  • Red Chilli Powder - 1 tablespoon
  • Juiced lemon - 1
Preparation of Masala Pomfret fry (Vavval Meen Varuval):
  • Add the following ingredients to a blender and mix well. The ingredients to be added are ginger, oil, turmeric powder, garlic, red chilli powder and lemon juice.
  • Blend the ingredients well until you get a masala texture.
  • Make little gashes on the surface of Pomfret and apply the masala evenly.
  • Marinate the masala coated pomfret for 15 mins.
  • Now coat the pomfret with semolina on both sides.
  • Fry the marinated semolina coated pomfret in oil until they turn golden.
  • Serve the golden Masala fried pomfret with sliced onions and lemon.

Sea bass fish is the favourite for most fish lovers. Malabar Sea Bass fish curry is a delightful fish meal that can be prepared by these simple steps.

Ingredients:
  • Sea Bass cuts- 120grams
  • Salt as required
  • Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 tablespoon
  • Tomatoes - 2 (finely chopped)
  • Chopped Onion
  • Chopped Coriander - 5grams
  • Coriander seeds - 30
  • Mustard seeds - 1gram
  • Curry leaves - few
  • Red Chilli - 50grams
  • Coconut oil - 10ml
  • Coconut milk - 1cup
  • Tamarind pulp - 5ml
Preparation of Masala Pomfret fry (Vavval Meen Varuval):
  • AMarinate the Sea Bass cuts with salt, turmeric, lime and let it sit for 20 minutes.
  • Soak the whole coriander seeds and red chilli in water for at least 3 to 4 hours and boil the same. Make it into a paste and strain it.
  • In a pan add coconut oil, Chopped onions, mustard seeds, curry leaves and ginger-garlic paste. These ingredients must be cooked till they reach a translucent stage.
  • Now add chopped tomatoes to them and stir well.
  • Add the tamarind pulp.
  • Add the strained paste and cook well.
  • Add fish curry cuts and cook the gravy for 20 minutes.
  • Once the fish is cooked, add the coconut milk to it and cook for 2 more minutes.
  • Now fry mustard seeds, curry leaves and red chilli in coconut oil separately.
  • Garnish the curry with chopped coriander and the fried curry leaves and serve it.
